Cougars fall short in opener against Garrison Troopers

A well-pitched, well-fought nine-inning battle opened the 2025 baseball season for the Central McLean Cougars and Garrison Troopers on April 7, with the Troopers narrowly edging the Cougars 3-2 in a tight varsity counter game.
Despite the loss, Central McLean Head Coach Alexander Quintaine came away with a strong sense of optimism about the season ahead.
“After our Varsity Counter vs. Garrison I’m confident that our Baseball team can compete with the best teams in the region when we are playing our best Baseball,” Quintaine said. “The thing I was most proud of tonight is how resilient our kids were. We had some errors and untimely plays happen but our kids kept competing and working.”
The game was a pitcher’s duel from the first pitch to the final out, with both teams matching each other in total hits (eight) and battling into extra innings before Garrison’s final push in the bottom of the ninth sealed the game.
