Cougars claw way past Troop

It was a slug-fest in South Heart, Friday night. In the end it was the Heart River Cougars clawing their way to a victory over the visiting Garrison-Max Troopers, 36-12.
After one, the Cougars were up 16-0. The Troopers responded in the second when Noah Sloka connected with Cain Foss from nine yards out. The two-point conversion leaving the score 16-6.
The Cougars tacked on 13 more to lead comfortably at half, 29-6.
The final score didn’t tell the whole story. The Troopers had their chances but failed to convert in key situations.
The running game was on fire. Riley Mautz ran like a player possessed, racking up 110 yards. He also led the team in tackles with 6½. Three other players tallied more than 20 yards rushing. As a team, G-M had 218 yards on the ground.
