Cossacks seeking identity
By STU MERRY
It is a mixed bag for the Max-Garrison-White Shield Cossacks baseball team. The squad has either won big, or been blown out.
April 14, the team fell to Surrey twice, 21-2 and 13-1. Pitchers of record for the Cossacks were Eric Frost and Noah Sloka.
This past Thursday, the team trounced Sawyer, winning the opener 23-11 and the nightcap 13-7. Pitchers were Sam Larson and Nash Wimer. Gabe Lassila had a career night in the opener, going a scintillating 6-7 with 4 RBI.
Last Friday, the Cossacks were turned aside by Washburn-Wilton-Wing. Scores were 19-3 and 12-1.
Tuesday, the team tangled with Velva.
Region competitors include Bishop Ryan, Velva, Surrey, Sawyer, Central McLean and the Cossacks.
