Cossacks rally to knock off Cougars

The Max-Garrison-White Shield Cossacks pulled off a come-from-behind win last Friday, bumping off the home-standing Central McLean Cougars 6-5, when Cossack Nick Thompson slapped the game-winning single to score Noah Sloka, wiping out what had been a 5-0 lead for the Cougars.
The loss was a learning experience on intensity for the Cougars.
"When you’re up 5-0, you expect to win the game," commented CM’s Alex Jangula.
They’ve got to find a way to keep the momentum, he added.
Central McLean had jumped out to a 4-0 lead the first inning, increased it to 5-0 for the second and third before the Cossacks started coming back when Casey Kramer scored on a wild pitch in the top of the fourth inning.
That was the beginning of the rally for the Cossacks, who would score five more runs in the sixth and seventh innings to turn back the Cougars.
"They had timely hits," summed up Central McLean’s Jangula. "They made a few key hits down the stretch," he said, and the Cougars, while able to get on base, they left runners on.
