Come Friday night, players around the state will be suiting up for another football season. Tackles will be made up and down the field for the next two months.
But this season there’s a serious effort to tackle something else – it’s one of the more serious risks of the game – concussions.
Effective with the 2010 high school football season, any player who shows signs, symptoms or behaviors associated with a concussion must be removed from the game and shall not return to play until cleared by an appropriate health-care professional.
