Bombers get by Troopers
By STU MERRY
The Garrison Troopers held the visitors on the board, the Lewis & Clark Berthold Bombers in check for the better half of three quarters Tuesday night, but in the end, it was the boys in purple who came away with the victory. Holding the hot hand for the Bombers was junior Austin Lee. While he was kept in check the first half, the final two quarters, he became unstoppable.
Lee, one of the Bombers’ top outside shooters, was held to seven points the first half. He owned the third quarter as L&C Berthold took charge. Lee tallied 17, including three treys, in the third frame. He ended the night with 29.
The Bombers were only up two after one quarter, 17-17. At intermission, the Troopers, who were clad in camo this night to honor the National Guard, had the Bombers on their heels.
As Lee and the Bombers steadily took control, the Trooper shots that were falling early on began missing their mark. Even though the Troopers pulled to within seven midway through the fourth, the Bombers went on another run to seal the deal.
