Blue Jays trounce Troop

The Stanley-Powers Lake Blue Jays have made a believer out of Garrison-Max Head Football Coach Jason Mattheis.
They also made believers out of Trooper fans who witnessed this past Friday’s blowout of the Troopers by the Blue Jays to the tune of 69-6.
Mattheis said he thinks Stanley-Powers Lake has a shot at being the top team in the region.
“They are big and physical, but they also have a lot of quickness,” Mattheis said.
The Blue Jays feature a multi pronged attack, featuring a tandem of running backs and stable of wide receivers.
“I really believe they will make a run deep into the playoffs,” Mattheis said, adding he thinks the Blue Jays are even better than perennial powerhouse Velva.
Reflecting on last Friday’s game, Mattheis said the Blue Jays were just too physical for the Troopers to handle.
“They hit us hard and they hit us early, and our defense had too difficult a time trying to adjust to their physical nature,” Mattheis lamented.
The coach said he felt the Troop was decent offensively, turning in a couple of big plays. But there were some plays that could have been huge had it not been for dropped balls.
Lacking a running back (Levi Hummel was out due to concussion symptoms from the JV game earlier in the week, and Conner Moe, knee injury and Austin Mattson suffered an injury during the contest), the Troopers were too one-dimensional.
