Big second half propels Troopers past Linton/HMB

After trailing at halftime, Garrison went on a 38-17 run over the final two quarters to overtake and pull away from Linton/Hazelton-Moffit-Braddock, 65-45, Jan. 2 at the Ben Kalberer Gymnasium in Hazelton.
The game was postponed from its original date of Dec. 19, due to inclement weather. Garrison improved to 3-2 on the season, while LHMB fell to 3-3.
Garrison grabbed a 7-2 lead after a three-pointer by Little Hail Perkins midway through the first quarter, and the Troopers would cling to the lead for the rest of the period, taking a 14-12 advantage into the second frame. Grady Crawford’s steal and lay-up gave the Troopers a 16-12 lead with 6:15 left in the second quarter, but LHMB ripped off 10 straight points over the next 1:20 to take its first lead of the game.
In an odd sequence, the Lions scored the final eight points of the run on a single trip, when Kashton Moser completed a three-point play off a steal at the 5:07 mark to give LHMB a 17-16 edge. A technical foul on the Trooper bench led to a pair of free throws by Justin Bosch, and after the Lions were awarded possession, Moser drilled a triple from the left wing to give LHMB its biggest lead (22-16) with 4:55 left in the half.
