Troop drubbed by No. 2

The Velva Aggies showed those who attended Friday night’s home opener of the Garrison-Max Troopers football team why they have been state Class A champions eight out of the past 11 years – and why they are rated No. 2 in the state in early season polls.
Velva struck early, then capitalized on three Trooper turnovers in the first quarter to romp, 45-zip.

Shaking it off. Becoming resilient. What’s past is past.
Those are the keys to success in any sport. The same is an area the Garrison-Max Troopers volleyball team needs to improve upon, according to Coach Jim Snustad.
The Troopers simply shouldn’t dwell on water under the bridge.
“We need to improve on being able to pick ourselves up after a disappointing game loss or loss of point, getting back on track,” Snustad said.

Troop explodes vs. Eagles

Football, volleyball and cross-country – all will see their high school seasons get underway this week for the Garrison-Max Troopers. The Trooper football team will travel to New Town Friday. Game time is 7 p.m. The volleyball team will see its first action Tuesday at Berthold. And the cross-country team will take part in the Jamestown-Pipestem Dam Invitational Saturday.Football: Trooper Head Coach shared that Saturday’s scrimmage at Minot State was a huge success for the team. “Mr. Mattheis (assistant coach) and I were very excited about the way we played against some tough competition,” Volk said. The Troopers opened the scrimmage squaring off against Minot High’s sophomore team. Volk admitted there was some apprehension at first as the Troopers put the ball on the ground three plays in a row.
