Enrollment in schools throughout McLean County have increased for the most part as doors opened for the first day of classes over the past two weeks. Except for Max, the remainder of schools in the county – Garrison, White Shield, Underwood, Turtle Lake-Mercer, Washburn and Wilton – have all seen increases. Enrollment there was down a total of 12 students, said Larry Sebastian, dean of students at Max Public School. “We had a large senior class last year and a smaller incoming pre-Kindergarten class,” Sebastian said, noting that this
year has a class of 14 seniors and eight pre-Kindergartners. “I think this is normal,” he said in relation to the fluctuating sizes of incoming and outgoing classes affecting the student census. “It just depends on the year.”
