This year’s Dickens play is all new
It’s already that time of the year for try outs to begin for “A Christmas Carol.”
There were three days of try-outs last Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Around 40 people tried out to be in this year’s version of the Dickens play written by Allyson Youngs, and the Humbug One-Act Play directed by Lisa Maki.
Big Change Coming to SACA/KOTA Theater Stage.
This year, SACA has made a huge change in the traditional production of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol. Local playwright, Allyson Youngs, has penned a rendition of A Christmas Carol that is both unique and perfectly tailored for our small-town stage. She used her years of experience growing up on the stage to write the script, but it is the people in this community that bring the characters to life. Young’s version of the play focuses on the thought process Charles Dickens may have used when composing his famous piece. Due to the strong number of young actors in our community and the focus of Ms. Young’s version, it was decided to add a Children’s One Act Play to tap into local young talent.
