The City of Garrison, Garrison Fire Department and Fort Stevenson State Park’s loss is Fort Ransom State Park’s gain.

City alderman, state park maintenance supervisor and firefighter Tyler Modlin has been named park manager at Fort Ransom State Park near Lisbon. He will take the helm March 1.

Modlin, who came to Garrison in 2012, said it will be hard to leave Garrison, a community that he and his wife, Chelsea, have fallen in love with.

"I’m going to miss this town," Modlin confessed. "It’s hard to leave. This is a wonderful community and area ...."

The Modlins will take with them many memories, including Tyler’s taking the Garrison-Max Titans American Legion baseball team to state in 2012.

A recent addition to the fire department, Modlin praised the group for its professionalism. "What a wonderful group of guys," he said. "They are well-trained."

Of his new job, Modlin said he is very excited for the opportunity and challenge.

Park manager Chad Trautman wishes Modlin all the best in his new endeavor.

"You can’t hold someone back," he said. "He wants to move up."

Modlin’s position is being advertised internally within the state park system for the time being, Trautman said.
