The storm that hit McLean County earlier this week has been deemed to be historic and has been compared to almost being like the blizzard the area faced in 1997. At press time Tuesday, the onslaught of the storm – which is supposed to last through Thursday – was just beginning. Flurries fell in Garrison Tuesday morning with winds recorded at 20 miles per hour around noontime. According to the National Weather Service, snow is predicted to continue on Wednesday, with winds strengthening and blizzard conditions returning. On
Thursday, snow will taper off from west to east through the day, with a possibility of blowing snow lingering to the east. McLean County is located between two systems that will receive the most snow. During a briefing by the National Weather Service Bismarck on Monday morning, it was projected that two systems located in the vicinity of Dickinson
and Minot would carry the most burden of the storm.
