Schools can open, plan uncertain
BY TYSON SMEDSTAD
The big question on the minds of area parents is “what’s the plan for school?”
Garrison and Max Schools have not yet released their plans for the upcoming school year, but are working with committees to come up with solutions to get children back to school safely.
Most of the planning for how the year will progress will be left up the the individual school district, superintendents and school boards.

Garrison District Superintendent Nick Klemisch addressed the announcement on the schools website saying, “We have not seen the specifics referenced in the press conference; however, there were some details shared during the press conference. What we do know is we will be required to submit a safety plan and another distance learning plan. Both of these plans will require input from a variety of stakeholders throughout our community,”
Klemisch continued, “A general outline for both plans will be completed and the stakeholders will then assist in the development of the finer details. Both the school board and the state will need to approve of these plans moving forward. Ultimately, this will all take time to digest and complete knowing we will do the best we can for our students, staff and community.”
Klemisch said the Garrison school board will have a special meeting this month to hash out the plans.
