School restart plan approved by board

Eighty-nine percent of the 367 respondents to a July survey of Garrison School District families voted for in-school instruction this fall.
The current enrollment of the district is 430, and only 5 families have opted to go the distance learning route through the Center for Distance Education despite of the increased number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in McLean County.
Superintendent Nick Klemisch is readying his schools for face-to-face instruction starting this month.
“For academic, social-emotional, and economic reasons, we are compelled to strive to
return to an in-person model. Yet, we cannot disregard that the health and safety
concerns associated with the virus remain. The district must consider all practical steps
to keep our schools from contributing to virus spread in our community,” Klemisch said in a letter to parents on the GHS website.
Currently we are in the Green Risk Level which means there will be mostly face-to-face instruction and quarantined individuals learning online.
General Restart Guidelines:
•The ratios of people in a learning space set by the CDC and the Governor will be followed when possible.
*The use of masks by students and staff is encouraged.
