School moves students from failing to passing

Garrison High School continues to tighten its academic belt.
Principal Steve Dangel reported to the school board Monday evening that the new crack down on failing grades is working.
Two weeks ago there were 133 of 182 students who had at least one failing grade. Today there were 68 students failing at least one class. The improvement came after the school implemented an intervention plan for students to work on turning in classwork and raising their grades during lunchtimes and after school.
Dangel said, "That number is still too high but it’s showing success."
Dangel and Superintendent Nick Klemisch said many students and parents voiced support for the program.
Klemisch said, "The feedback has been far more positive than negative. It’s not about what everybody thinks, it’s about what is working."
