GARRISON – It was a busy month for the Garrison Area Resource Center’s food pantry this past month. A total of 142 households
were helped by the food pantry this year, a jump from the 122 households seen by the food pantry in November 2021. Breaking down the families, the food pantry helped 390 individuals, with the majority – 182 – were adults, with 134 children and 74 senior citizens, food pantry coordinator Dawn Kolden said. In all, it equated to 10,797 pounds of food being given. This was a jump from the number of families who used the food pantry for the Thanksgiving month last year; according to Kolden, 122 households comprising 350 individuals were given 12,706 pounds of food. While the majority of the families came to the food pantry during their distribution day on Nov. 16, Kolden noted that a few families needed food prior to the distribution day and a couple families who missed the distribution day and came
after; those visits were done by appointment.
