Fundraising efforts for pool renovations

Jars filled with loose change — pennies, nickels, some dimes and a few quarters — can, over time, accumulate to some tidy sums. This is how the Garrison Parks and Rec Department anticipate their upcoming Pennies for the Pool fundraiser to turn out. The fundraiser is the first of many fundraising projects for the Garrison Pool, said Laura Hellebush, president of the Parks and Rec board. The penny jars will be located at participating businesses in Garrison this week and through the end of January. Construction on the pool would include work on the pump house, which includes the pool’s mechanical system; renovating the pool house, the building that connects the entrance with the pool; and replacing the baby pool with a splash pad.
