Park Board to rebuild

The time to rebuild is here.
The five outgoing members of the Garrison Park Board met for the last time Wednesday evening. One of their duties was to appoint at least three new members to the board. A handful of individuals have expressed an interest in serving on the board.
Outgoing Park Board President Paul Garcia met with Garrison City Council members at their meeting Monday night.
There was an understanding that the appointments to the park board would be made by the mayor, but according to an opinion from the city’s attorney, Bryan Van Grinsven of McGee, Hankla, Backes & Dobrovolny, it is the park board’s duty to name successors. Garcia and the council agreed the matter would be taken up by the park board at the Wednesday meeting.
