GARRISON – Most young girls want to grow up to be teachers, doctors or maybe even astronauts. But not Callie YoungBird. She wanted to be a funeral director. “Since I was four years old, I told people I was going to be a funeral director,” said YoungBird, who officially became the owner of Thompson Funeral Home in Garrison last week. However, there was a time when she told people she wanted to be a veterinarian, but that was only an excuse so “people wouldn’t look funny at me anymore.” Because of her career aspirations, there has been
judgment, as well as thoughts of whether or not she would follow through with it. Growing up, people often commented that being a funeral director wasn’t a happy job. But YoungBird somewhat disagrees.
