Majeres on top

Garrison cross country performs well

Eight-grader August Majeres topped the Garrison finishers during the meet at Painted Woods Golf Course in Washburn on Sept. 3. He placed second in last week’s meet in Velva.
“You can tell (Majeres) enjoys running based on how he pushes himself at practice and meets,” Head Coach Carrie Essler said.
For a young team, they are showing improvement since the beginning of the season.
“They (the team) did very well considering how windy it was,” Essler said. “When I looked over their times basically everyone improved from the Velva meet, which is great considering how they ran a pretty flat course in Velva to running some hills in Washburn. Everyone worked hard and pushed themselves.”
After a week and a half break, the Troopers head to Stanley Golf course for their next meet on Sept. 15.
