Troopers defeat Washburn, Flasher in final week of varsity play

By TYSON SMEDSTAD

The Lady Troopers finished their varsity volleyball season in first place.
“They played phenomenally,” Trooper’s head coach Tina Irish said of the team’s performance against the Flasher Bulldogs on Monday evening. “They played up to their skill level and did not lose their second set like they’ve been doing recently. They played very well.”
The first set looked fairly matched. Garrison would score and Flasher would answer. Halfway through the set, the Troopers turned up the intensity and ran away with it. The final score was Garrison 25, Flasher 14.
In the second set, junior Karli Klein came on strong and helped the Troopers to an 11-point lead with some of her 18 kills. The front line of Klein, exchange student Naia Alvarez and Garrison newcomer JyliAnne Striha was unstoppable.
Alvarez had 27 assists during the game.
