Garbage guidelines clarified

With change, there’s going to be a learning curve. Residents are asked to look at their container carefully. Unloading of the green, 96-gallon tote is done mechanically, not manually, so adjustments cannot be made when the driver passes by a residence to dump a container.
City officials and representatives with Waste Management clarified a few guidelines for residents to follow to assure their garbage is picked up.
1. The green totes have instructions on the lid as to how they are to be placed next to the curb. There is a front. Not backwards or sideways.
2. Totes must be placed on a level surface, not up on top of a snow bank.
