Case against former county employee set to be dismissed under diversion agreement

A diversion agreement has been reached to dismiss a case against a former McLean County employee who was accused of hindering law enforcement.
Ashleigh Bennett, 38, of Washburn, was charged May 29 with hindering law enforcement after deputies said she gave false information that hindered a felony case.
A trial was sent to take place Dec. 12 but was canceled due to the attorney not being available.
On Jan. 2, a pretrial diversion agreement was entered into the case, showing it had been signed by Bennett, her Attorney Kayla Peterson and the McLean County State’s Attorney Ladd Erickson on Dec. 30.
