Cancelation may spell opportunity for Garrison
Chamber talks local Norsk Høstfest replacement

With Minot’s Norsk Høstfest being canceled for the second year in a row, Garrison community members visited briefly Monday about crafting a local substitution.
Bruce Schreiner of Garrison State Bank addressed attendees of Monday’s Garrison Chamber meeting, saying he felt that the lack of the North Dakota summer staple, Norsk Høstfest, may be an opportunity for Garrison.
“I think we could grab those people,” Schreiner said, emphasizing that Garrison’s largest tourism draw, The Dickens Festival, takes place long after the Norsk Høstfest attendees have left the area for warmer conditions.
Mckaila Behles, former director of the Garrison Convention and Visitors Bureau, echoed the sentiment, saying the city could work to bring local entertainment to the area in the late summer, when Norsk Høstfest traditionally takes place.
