Bond issue put on hold
Bond issue put on hold

What way to turn? For Garrison School Board members Tuesday night, it was the difference between moving ahead with a bond issue vote and indebtedness increase vote as soon as Oct. 9, or waiting until the verdict is in regarding the proposed annexation of property from the Lewis & Clark North Shore District. That decision won’t be known until Sept. 24.
With those choices, board members opted to wait, saying it’s best to hold off on bringing the issue before patrons – for now.
“When we are talking about a huge issue, is asking for five-six more months that much time?” Board President Melissa Rud asked fellow members.
Delaying the vote made sense to board member Janis Sloka who said, “We still want to do this, but we are postponing it for now.”
If the vote had proceeded in October and it passed, and if the Lewis & Clark North Shore annexation were approved, patrons from that area would not be bound to be part of the indebtedness the district would incur.
