Adopt-a-Senior program takes off
“I absolutely love this program! I purposely picked a senior I didn’t really know, so I could get to know him over the next few months,” senior adoptive parent Tereasa Souza said.
A new program was started at Garrison High School last month, and it took off!
Fifth-grade teacher Jessica Hansen brought up the idea on Facebook to have community members “adopt” a senior from the school and give them little gifts, notes of affirmation, and treats.
The idea is for parents with high school seniors to post about their seniors. What their hobbies are, their future plans, and things they have accomplished. Community members, family, or friends can “adopt” the senior. They are responsible for contacting the parent/ guardian for additional information.
