Trojans sweep Mustangs; swept by Skyhawks

The Trojans volleyball team defeated the Surrey Mustangs, 3-0, on the home court Tuesday night and Thursday night they were beaten by Bismarck Shiloh Christian 3-0 also on the Trojans home court.
Leaders for the Trojans against the Mustangs were Zoe Smalls with 17 assists, Madison Kurle with 12 digs and Tatum Fylling tallied 6 kills.
Skylar Bertsch and Caitlyn Bachmeier led the Mustang with 4 kills each.
The first set saw the Trojans slip past the Mustangs 25-22. Going to the second set the Trojans dominated and took the set 25-11. The third set was close with the Trojans pulling out a 25-22 win and take the match 3-0.
Katelynn Presser led the Trojans against the Skyhawks with 15 kills and 21 digs.
Tatum Fylling was also in double figure in kills with 10. Zoe Smalls had 22 assists and Madison Kurle tallied 20 Digs.
Leaders for the Skyhawks were Tori Schindler with 9 kills, Brianna Erickson with 23 assists and Allie Mischel with 27 digs.
The Trojans took the lead first with Tatum Fylling getting a tip for a point and Tasha Williams getting a kill for a 2-0 lead.
The Skyhawks erased the Trojans lead with kills from Tori Schindler and Jennalee Reynolds and a tip from Jesse Ebach to give them a 4-3 lead.
The Skyhawk held a slight lead until an ace from Schindler and a pair of kills from Miriah Forness stretched the lead to 20-14. An ace from Froness and a kill from Krista Ulmer put the Skyhawk up 24-15.
The Trojans made a short run with Fylling getting a tip, Kurle an ace and Presser a kill but a kill from Forness ended the set in the Skyhawks favor 25-18.
The only bright spot for the Trojans in the second set was a kill from Fylling to give the Trojans a 1-0 lead. Too many errors on the Trojans put them down and they didn’t recover to gain any ground on the Skyhawks. Forness and Schindler were the stars for the Skyhawks as Schindler put down five kills and Forness scored a pair of aces and a kill.
