Trojans pound Cossacks

The Turtle Lake-Mercer Mc-Clusky Trojans pounded the Max Cossacks Thursday night in a boys and girls double-header on the Trojans home court.
The girls started out the night scoring the first six points. Then they finished the quarter with a 17-2 run to lead 23-4 at the end of one.
The Trojans’ pressure defense forced the Cossacks to turn the ball over numerous times resulting in points for the Trojans.
Haley Zinke scored 10 of her 17 points in this quarter.
The Trojans’ defense held the Cossacks to eight points in the second quarter while they scored 23. Sabrina Rust scored eight of her game high 18 points in the second quarter. The Trojans led 46-12 at the half time break.
The Trojans had a 27-3 run from 2:20 left in the second quarter to 3:30 left in the third quarter when the Trojans led 63-14.
The Cossacks scored six answered points near the end of the third quarter to make the score 63-20.
The third quarter ended with the Trojans leading 67-24.
With the reserves in from the middle of the third quarter and all of the fourth, the Trojans continued to add to the score, scoring 24 points in the fourth quarter to make the final score 91 35 for the Trojans’ first win of the season.
