Trojans beat Troopers; lose to Miners

The Trojans defeated Garrison/Max Troopers 3-0 Thursday night and lost to Wilton/Wing Miners 2-3 Tuesday night.

Both matches were district matches. Center/Stanton leads the district with a 4-1 record followed by Underwood and Wilton/Wing with 3-1 records. The Trojans are fourth with a 2-2 record; Garrison/Max is fifth with a 1-3; Washburn is in sixth place with a 0-5 record.

The Trojans play Underwood on the Trojans’ home court Oct. 20 in the final district match of the season. Only two more matches remain after that: Standing Rock Oct. 27 and a home match with Flasher Oct, 29.

Against the Troopers, the first set saw the Trojans jump to a 9-3 after a kill and block from Tatum Fylling, a kill from Kaley Sease and an ace from Kennedy Sondrol.

The Trojans stretched their lead to 20-6 with Sease getting three more kills and Kylee Reiser a kill and a block.

The set ended at 25-14 with Madison Kurle getting the final point with a push.

The second set saw the Troopers take a 7-1 lead after back-to-back aces from Shelby Gehring and Taylor Kamp.

The Trojans clawed their way back into the game with Sondrol, Fylling and Reiser getting kills. Kurle tied the set at 10 with an ace.

The Troopers held a slight lead from there but then an ace from Zoe Smalls tied the set at 16.
