Skyhawks soar past Cougars Friday night

A 24-point second stanza vaulted the Shiloh Christian Skyhawks to a 9-man gridiron victory Friday night as the Region 5 powerhouse bumped off the Central McLean Cougars 62-26 in their Homecoming game.
“They came out and they played well,” commented Central McLean Co-coach Grant Singer, regarding the Skyhawks.
The Cougars played well, too, at least during the first half – most of the first half.
The Skyhawks got on the scoreboard first with a 50-yard score, which was answered quickly when senior QB Tapper Jacobs hit a wide-open Ty Snyder for the 35-yard TD score with 3:40 remaining in the first quarter.
The Skyhawks answered immediately with a big return all the way back to the Cougar 28, which was followed by a score on the first play from scrimmage, giving Shiloh the 14-6 edge.
Following an AJ Ketterling return to the 32, the Cougars took over, Kayden Hornberger picking up some big yards on the ground. Jacobs capped the Cougars’ possession, scoring from a yard out to put the Cougars within two points, 14-12.
