Sheridan-County Coyotes in five
By Tim Hanson
It took five games for the Sheridan County Coyotes to down the Wilton Miners in the opening round of the District 10 volleyball tournament in Underwood. The win puts the Coyotes against the Washburn Cardinals in the first game Tuesday night. The first game of the five-game match had the Coyotes take a 3-0 lead, only to have the Miners tie the score at five and increase the lead to 14-10. An ace from Jacy Hausauer tied the game at 15 and a kill by Neilie Dockter put the Coyotes up by one 16-15. A side out tied the game at 16. The game was tied at 17, 18, 20 and 22. Ella Hein tied the game at 22 with an ace but the next serve went in the net for a point for the Coyotes. Kills by Jasmine Massingill and Hausauer ended the game at 25-22. The next two games didn’t go so well for the Coyotes as they fell behind early and then got within a couple of points, or tied the game, but couldn’t get a lead and eventually lost both close games, 24-26 and 21-25.
