Raiders sweep Trojans

The Turtle Lake-Mercer Mc-Clusky Trojans opened the 2012 season with a loss, 3-0, against the Drake-Anamoose Raiders.
Haley Zinke led the Trojans with nine kills; Chloe Bayless added eight. Sabrina Rust tallied 20 assists and Kaytlin Werth had eight digs.
Leading the Raiders were Angel Kaisler with five kills, Chessa Baumgardner with five aces, and Sydney Seehafer with nine assists. Rachel Handeland had 11 digs.
The Trojans lost in three straight games by identical scores of 25-19.
The Trojans got on the board first in game one with a block from Sabrina Laframboise.
The Raiders then ran the score to 10-3. Kills from Katelynn Presser and Haley Zinke cut the score to 10-5 Raiders.
The Trojans didn’t gain any ground on the Raiders until a kill from Laframboise and a pair of kills from Chloe Bayless, plus a lift call on the Raiders, cut the Raiders’ lead to 15-13.
That was as close as the Trojans got as a couple of net violations and long kill shots gave the Raiders the win, 25-19.
Game two was a lot like the game one as the Trojans fell behind six to eight points. Then midway in the game, they made a little run with Zinke getting an ace; Bayless a kill; and Laframboise a pair of kills to cut the Raiders’ lead to 18-15.
The Raiders ended the game with Chessa Baumgardner putting down three consecutive aces to make the final score 25-19 Raiders.
