The Hazen Bison dominated the Central McLean Cougars early in Friday night’s Class A gridiron matchup, rolling to 42 points the first quarter and rolling over the home team Cougars in Turtle Lake, by the score of 42-6.
The top-ranked Bison took a quick 14-0 lead the first quarter then put the game pretty much out of reach in the second quarter, scoring 28 more unanswered points to take a 42-0 lead into the half.
"Hazen was a tough team," summed up Cougar running back Wyatt Wilson who rushed for 26 yards for the game. "We don’t feel like we played as hard as we should have, but we still tried to play hard."
Cougar coach Kurt Ziebarth agreed – Hazen was just a good football team.
"We knew they were going to be a really good team, and I think they were maybe a little bit surprised at how good they were, but when you’re the two-time defending state champion . . ." said Ziebarth.
The Cougars scored in the final stanza when quarterback Hunter Jacobs scored on a 26-yard run, the lone Cougar score for the game.
