Eleven unlucky number for Cougar girls

The number 11 was not kind to the Central McLean Cougars in their first week on the softball field, as the Cougars started off their season at 0-3, 11 points being scored by their opponents in all three games.
They started the week with an 11-1 loss to Stanley, then followed up with 11-8 and 11-0 losses to Kenmare-Bowbells-Mohall-Lansford-Sherwood.
"They had a really good pitcher," is how Cougar coach Kyle Hunt described the outing at Stanley. "Their pitcher kind of shut us down. I don’t think we had a legitimate hit."
Central McLean was able to get on base when Stanley’s pitcher lost control and allowed batters on base. The Cougars’ one run came on a passed ball, noted Hunt.
The Cougars trailed 3-1 in the third inning when Stanley went on a tear and picking up eight more runs. When the Cougars didn’t score in the top of the fifth, the game was over due to the 10-run rule.
Kennedy Fricke took the loss on the hill for the Cougars, noted Hunt. Later in the week the Cougars were able to get their bats moving better, going run for run against Kenmare.
"We actually played pretty well," commented Hunt. "It was kind of back and forth, we were up, they were up.
