Eichhorst, Sellon pace Cougars at indoor

Central McLean freshman Emily Eichhorst proved she is going to be a force to be reckoned with this year on the track, as she placed second in the 800-meter run at this past Friday’s Central North Dakota Conference indoor track meet at the Minot State University Dome.
Eichhorst’s second-place finish with a time of 2:48.83 was the top place for the Cougar girls, who placed seventh in the team standings with 29 points.
The meet was a first for a lot of the athletes, noted head coach Lee Weisgarber, as most of them had not competed at an indoor meet before.
"Although an indoor meet doesn’t give the full effect of a true track meet we are used to, it does allow our athletes to get into events and compete against others," said Weisgarber.
Mariah Sellon garnered an individual third-place finish in the high jump with a leap of 4-7, while teammate Kennedy Sondrol placed eighth at the height of 4-01. Sellon also placed eighth in the long jump with a leap of 14-0.
Two of the girls’ relay teams placed at the meet, both finishing in third place.
