Cougars win over Wildcats
Central McLean’s Wyatt Wilson and Zach Cottingham did their best to keep their numbers nice and tidy Friday night, each rushing for an even 100 yards as the Cougars annihilated the Center-Stanton Wildcats by the score of 52-22 on the 9-man gridiron at Center.
Cottingham carried the ball just eight times in the game, finding the end zone on three of them, a couple short-yardage TDs to start the first and second stanzas; then he broke for a 30-yard TD run midway through the second stanza after Wilson hauled the ball 40 yards to put the Cougars in scoring territory.
Wilson scored a pair of TDs when he had his hands on the ball, too, culminating a couple of Blake Anderson runs midway through the first quarter, scoring from a yard out, and then punctuating the win late in the game with a four-yard score to put the score at 52-22.
Joining the two running backs in the scoring column was quarterback Hunter Jacobs, who was effective on the ground and in the air, scoring a pair of TDs with his ground game, and 8-yard scamper in the first stanza, then with less than four minutes remaining in the half, Jacobs rolled out looking to pass, but instead kept the ball, scoring on a 20-yard keeper, giving Central McLean a 44-0 lead.
The Cougars also had a Nick Dammen reception for a touchdown called back in the second quarter, as they were saddled with multiple penalties the second quarter.
