Cougars win, lose by 10
By Suzanne Werre
Sometimes all it takes is one really good, or bad, inning.
That’s Thursday’s Central McLean fast pitch game against Wilton-Wing, as the Cougars gave up seven runs in the third inning on their way to an 11-1 loss on their home field.
It was a combination of the Cougars not being able to put the bat on the ball, and the defense not making enough plays, summed up CM coach Kyle Hunt.
“We really struggled to hit the ball and the third inning killed us,” said Hunt. “We needed to make some plays and didn’t, which allowed them a big inning.”
Just a couple of days earlier, it was the Cougars, taking some easy bases, slapping the ball and making plays as they blasted Washburn 10-0 in Washburn.
The Cougars tallied six runs in the first inning and never looked back as they rolled to the 10-run win.
