The Cougars easily bumped off home-standing Bowman County this past Friday 50-6 on the wings of another nearly 200-yard rushing effort (199 yards) from senior running back Dylan Ruff, upping the Cougars’ record to 4-1. The Cougars are set to host the as-yet winless Center-Stanton this Friday in the homecoming match-up at Turtle Lake, and Ruff is hoping to keep things status quo, as in everyone doing what they’ve been doing so  far – no letting up.
“It’s hard. You don’t want to go in too confident you’re going to win,” said Ruff. “I know in a lot of our games we came in a little bit too confident . . . you have to focus on how much you want to win rather than knowing you are going to win.”
Despite Friday’s lopsided score and the Cougars’ 14-0 lead after the first quarter, it wasn’t until the second stanza that the Cougars really dominated, adding another 14 points to the score while leaving the Bulldogs scoreless at the break.
“We started out a little slow and really played well in the second quarter,” commented Cougar coach Kevin Dockter. He also credited linemen Nathan Rauhauser, Mitchell LeRoy, Brendon Reinbold, Bill Wilson and Jakob Kasprowicz for punching some sizable holes for Ruff to run through.
