Cougars come back for seventh
By Suzanne Werre
The Central McLean Cougars baseball team proved that starting an inning batting at the bottom of the line-up doesn’t mean diddly, as the Cougars waged a 5-run, game-winning comeback Saturday at the Class B Baseball State Championship in Fargo.
The Cougars posted a come-from-behind win Saturday to nab seventh place in their first-ever state appearance, bumping off Lewis and Clark/Parshall 5-3.
The Cougars found themselves trailing early in the game when LC-P scored one run in the first inning and two in the third.
Then the momentum changed.
Number seven batter Bo Weisenburger got things rolling when he got on base.
"He hit a little chopper to the shortstop," noted Cougar coach Alex Jangula. "It would have been a tough play for them to make the out. He put contact on the ball and beat out the throw."
