Braves defeat Trojans

Mariah Sellon scored 18 points in the Trojans’ 36-66 loss to the Parshall Braves in their season opener on the Trojans home court. Cheyenne Packineau was the Braves’ leading scorer with 28 points.
The Braves got on the score board first with buckets from Alexis Woods and Veronica Lyson.
The Trojans scored the next six points with Kennedy Sondrol scoring from the outside; this was followed by Mariah Sellon with a couple of break-a-ways for scores to put the Trojans up 6-4 at the 4:31 mark.
Lyson scored for the Braves on a baseline drive to tie the game at 6. Sellon answered with drive down the lane to put the Trojans in front at the 3:37 mark.
A drive and bucket from Pack-ineau tied the game at 8. A free throw from Woods and a deuce from Kiara Packineau put the Braves up 11-8.
A bucket from Trista Crim-mins, from the left wing, cut the Braves’ lead to 11-10 but the Braves scored the last seven points of the quarter to take an 18-10 lead after one.
Madison Kurle and Victoria Goven each scored a bucket to start the second quarter but they were answered by the Braves. Sellon grabbed a loose ball and put it in; then a second bucket on a base line drive cut the Braves’ lead to 21-18 at the 5:05 mark.
From there, the Braves made an 11-1 run to finish the second quarter in front 32-19.
