Wet, windy conditions temper weekend

With an eye to making people unhappy no matter which way he called it, McClusky Merchants President Jeff Martwick put out the call to cancel the parades for Saturday morning after a long morning rain made things really wet and ugly.
The weather calmed about the time for the parade but kids were dry and safe, floats that could be stored had nearby options in other towns later in July, and everyone got fed at noon. That helped calm the crowd: the free hot dogs and Grace Lutheran Church selling Tacos in a Bag made for a fun crowd and good visiting in the community center.
The Merchants Association served 262 plates in the Mc-Clusky Fire Hall setting. Grace Lutheran Taco coordinator Kayla Abrahamson estimated they sold 220 tacos.
Martwick noted he didn’t see anyone at the pool for free swimming on Saturday but Friday evening had a good crowd for the Kickball tournament and the Dollars for Scholars hot dogs and burger fundraiser.
The "Steal Dragons" kickball team scored 16 points and the "Krebsie’s Crew" team scored 12 points. Kim Saueressig was unanimously judged Most Valuable Player for his ten catches. "It was a heck of a game," added Kickball game manager Lauri Logsdon who shared coordinating the event duties with Jeremy Lauer.
Lauer adds, "We had over
30 players participate not only from McClusky, but surrounding communities as well. After Umpire Mike Axt announced the rules and Team Captains Jeremy
Lauer and Dakota Pederson picked their lineups, the game was on.
