Verendrye holds 70th annual meeting

Verendrye hosted 1326 registered members and their families at their annual meeting on Thursday, June 11 at the North Dakota State Fair Center. It was the Cooperative’s 70th annual meeting. The cooperative serves a small northern portion of McLean, north half of Sheridan, northwest edge of Wells, lower southern portion of Renville, southeast corner of Pierce as well as McHenry and Ward Counties, serving 11,000 customers in 134 townships.
Besides the complimentary supper catered by Royal Fork of Minot, there were more than 50 booths and displays for the entire family in the Magic Room of the Center, as well as a Petting Zoo, Lucky Lenny the Clown, Magic Touch Entertainment, carnival games and an Air Castle for youngsters in the FFA Hall. The booths in the Magic Room included both informational and craft items, as well as new and novel equipment, robotics and model aircraft designs and demonstrations, as well as local businesses promoting services and special skills.
The meeting was called to order in the 4-H Hall at 6:30 p.m., with a call for nominations of the directors, with a unanimous ballot cast for the selected directors from each district. During the meeting, various door prizes were given away, with the grand prize going unclaimed when the name was randomly drawn from among all members of the cooperative and they were not present (Manfred SDA Church). The consolation cash prize of $500 was finally given to the third registered name called, Steve R. Smith, as the others (Arlo Monilaws and Judy Moss) had left the building or did not answer th
