Verendrye Electric holds annual meeting

The June 9 meeting of the Verendrye Electric Cooperative, Inc. was held in Minot at the fairgrounds. Food service, served by Homesteaders Restaurant started at 4:30 and ran until 6:30 p.m., serving meatballs, potatoes and gravy with ice cream for dessert.
Local displayers included Path Foster Care, with Judy and David Frueh, rural Martin. Judy has written books on foster children and foster parenting, which were also on display and available for purchase.
For the Eastern District, incumbent Blaine Bruner was challenged by Mark Knudtson, but retained his seat, 277 to 166. Bruner is the board president. The other two districts’ representatives went unchallenged
Operation Round Up Grants included St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Butte, Anamoose Park Board, Drake Threshing Association, Harvey Volunteer Fire Department, Drake Little Raiders Daycare, McHenry County Sheriff’s Office, and St Aloisius Hospital in Harvey. Total grants for these and many other applicants totaled $64,178 for June 2015 to June 2016.
Several workers earned service awards, with a total of 200 years of service among them all. The Co-ops continuing four goals were emphasized: safety, keeping the shop friendly for members, providing service excellence, and keeping the co-op financially strong.
Scholarship presentations included Sheridan County’s Kody Faul, McClusky.
