Two-county farm workshop next Monday

A farmland leasing workshop is underway for area residents. It will be presented by the combined efforts of the NDSU Sheridan County and McHenry County Extension Services.
The workshop will discuss information under the topics: Land Value and Rent Trends.
Recent and long term trends will be presented as well as the changes in land values in these discussions.
The workshop offers a chance to get perspective on evaluating the current land market. This includes
calculating fair cash rent and learning how to calculate equitable cash rental agreements.
Under the Cash and Flexible Cash Land Lease Arrangements and Strat-egies portion, attendees will learn about different types of cash and flexible cash land leases, including the concept of bonus payments. This will assist both land owner and tenant to determine the best rental arrangements for their situation.
Improving Negotiation: Landowner Operator Communication is also scheduled. A how-to on improving land rental negotiations by enhancing the communication with current and perspective landlords.
This includes the use of resumes, portfolios and frequent communication to keep landowners informed and educated regarding the operations and visions for their particular tract of land.
Some actual communication pieces will be showcased as examples.
