Sportsmen follow January supper with March fish fry

The busy McClusky Sportsman’s Club held their annual fundraiser, a fish fry, on Sunday, March 13, at the American Legion Quarters in McClusky. This is the same location as their landowner appreciation supper held on January 30.
The fish fry started with a social at 6 p.m. and supper will follow at 6:30. The cost was $6 per adult, children $3, and pre-school free, and their regular meeting was held after the supper. The Sunday event was host to 61 people who ventured out after the recent Friday blizzard to enjoy the meal. “A great portion of the fish served were caught by ice fishing anglers of the club who were pleased to share their catch as well as fish tales,” according to member Tina Bertsch.
At the landowner appreciation supper, 84 people came to enjoy the roast beef meal complete with all the extras and choice of desserts. The event is the Sportsman’s Club’s way of showing appreciation to area landowners, to share common concerns, and enhance the landowner/sportsman relationship.
The club furnished the main meal and club members brought sides and desserts to show respect and gratitude toward local landowners. “The event was an opportunity to share the understanding that hunting on private property is a privilege, and hunters should strive to be considerate of public and private lands,” said speaker Darrell Bertsch.
Door prizes donors were McClusky Sportsman’s Club, The Confederate Bar, Bentz Supply, and The Co-op Elevator of McClusky.
