Special assessment information unveiled

Roberta Hunt and David Jorgenson, assessment committee representatives, were present for the August meeting. The third member, Frank Teumer, did not appear.
Hunt spoke on the policies they used to assess the cost of the water improvement project onto parcels in the assessment district “as fairly as possible.”
She noted the following items.
All parcels were considered for the assessment.
The entire water system is benefitting from the project so everyone in the water system is assessed, even if their property is not in the construction area.
All buildable lots with access to water are assessed, including empty lots.
Adjacent parcels that are considered one property are combined do the full assessment will be distributed over the entire combined parcel. If two lots are used for a house or business, then each lot will carry one-half of the assessment.
