A day for area ranchers and farmers to gather and socialize at information sessions will be held on Thursday, Feb. 3 at the McClusky City Community Center. The event, lunch and door prizes are sponsored by the Sheridan Association and numerous local businesses.
The day starts after registration at (9:15 with a 9:30 am session on wind energy and leases with NDSU Farm Management Specialist Ron Haugen speaking.
Issues he has previously addressed in NDSU informational sessions and publications, and may address locally, include: the contract, consulting an attorney with experience in wind leases and agreements, not signing unless you are completely satisfied with the agreement, negotiating points in the contract, how much is paid and the nature of the payments, impact on land use, intent of the developer, and if this is the best option and the tax consequences and liability issues as well as the impact on land enrolled in U.S. Dept. Agriculture programs.
Following at 10:15 will be Roxanne Johnson NDSU Water Quality Associate with SPCC Oil and Fuel Regulations. This includes farm storage facilities regulations and impact.
