School underway in McClusky
By ALLAN TINKER
The McClusky City Park offered a friendly place for picnic food and casual visiting, along with door prizes courtesy of Interim Superintendent Steve Brannan. It was the “Back to School” get-together of students, faculty, families, friends and administration to fine tune the first day of school on Wednesday, August 18. BIG hotdogs, to take your pick of tender or slightly crunchy, done to please, along with chips, beverages and all the trimmings were the walk up and pick up meal. Formal school issues including registration corrections
and others, also were handled in the fresh air and welcoming late afternoon social atmosphere. Prior to this event, the School Board August 10 meeting was held with all on
board, including Dean of Students Mitch Avalon. Interim Superintendent Brannan, Superintendent Kara Munro, School Board President Roberta Hunt, Vice President Jason Axt, and Directors Sarah Crimmins, Scott Stroh, and Levi Boehm. Board meeting minutes were approved with note to milk cost with lunches as part of the free program, with milk
charges just for snack time. Superintendent Kara Munro spoke on the grant awarded the school, the results of much hard work by her and staff. The “Best in Class” grant is for $60,000 and there will be free pre-school and meals are also free for this year, leaving families with no cost for these two programs. Pre-school will offer four days of classes.
Former English teacher Brenda Schaefer will return when available later this year and she will work as a para and in the library.
