School board moves forward with improvements and repairs, notes school’s achievements

After recognition for the music department’s two stars and “2” ratings, the McClusky School board heard Supt. Lee Kelm’s report for the month on March 15 at the Home Economics room at the school.
Noted also were the school’s vocational ag department accomplishments in a number of competitions, even though being short participants who decide not to attend detracts from their ability to place.
The elementary music festival also resulted in all blue ribbons, Kelm added.
Also noted were the attendance by Teacher Nieland and students at an area DECA conference; the end of the third quarter of school with about 40 days of school remaining for 2011 spring quarter; and the start of senior privileges on Monday, March 21.
A student who wished to register for five classes in the next school year with the same instructor for all five, will be guided to different class arrangements, with three the most classes together desirable, from both student and teacher standpoints.
Kelm presented information that bullying presentations, for student and parents and staff would be upcoming in Sept. of the next school year, Sept. 20 and 22. Input will be sought before a final decision is made.
Kelm reported that a technology grant was approved for $5,000 and they were invited to apply for an additional $3,800, which would fund three events for the community.
